After being selected first overall in the 1978 NFL Draft, superstar rookie running back Earl Campbell quickly demonstrated why he would be wildly successful at the professional level. On this famous run early in the 1978 campaign, Campbell refused to go down without a fight, taking a pitch to the left, making a cut to get past the first defender, running straight through the second would-be tackler, and then barrelling ahead through the defense before finally being taken down as his jersey was ripped clean off his pads. Campbell would ultimately tally 77 yards rushing on just 13 carries in this one, as the Oilers fell to the Rams, 10-6, on Sept. 24, 1978.
