2025’s season knew of only a single player to record touchdowns as both a returner and defender, and as New England is likely already aware of, that becomes a game-changing luxury when everything clicks. On Sept. 28, 2025, everything coalesced, as Marcus Jones announced his status as one of the NFL’s most uniquely-gifted talents, sparking the Patriots’ memorable afternoon through a speedy, tackle-breaking 88-yard punt return touchdown. Named to the league’s All-Pro Second Team by regular season’s end, the fourth-year star did some of everything in the 42-13 dismantling of the Carolina Panthers. The end-of-game statsheet included 167 punt return yards on three tries — a whopping 55.7 yards per return, and another near-touchdown — and five tackles on the defensive side.
